Mirandola, Italy – The historic and renowned Autocarrozzeria Imperiale, a standard-bearer of excellence in the luxury vehicle painting and repair sector, has embarked on a technological innovation journey aimed at energy efficiency and production process optimization. This commitment is part of a broader strategic vision that considers energy management a priority, in line with the “double materiality” principle promoted by European regulations: addressing both environmental impact and business competitiveness.
In collaboration with Tekni Post, an advanced Building Energy Management System (BEMS) has been implemented, capable of communicating directly with the body shop’s management software (ERP). This integration is a cornerstone of the energy management system the company has adopted in compliance with the UNI CEI EN ISO 50001 standard, and it complements other significant initiatives such as the use of photovoltaic systems and a trigeneration system.
Integration between ERP and BEMS: a winning synergy
The core of the project lies in the interconnection between two vital systems: the ERP software, which governs and tracks all production stages, and the Tekni Post BEMS, which monitors and manages the building’s energy systems. Specifically, the system acquires real-time data on the operating hours of the painting ovens directly from Autocarrozzeria Imperiale’s ERP.
This data, which includes ignition cycles, operating temperatures, and actual usage times, is cross-referenced with precise electricity consumption measurements. This information synergy has enabled a move beyond traditional analysis based on total consumption, introducing specific and dynamic KPIs.
Strategic KPIs for Energy Efficiency
Thanks to this integration, it has been possible to define and monitor a crucial Key Performance Indicator: energy consumption per hour of oven operation (kWh/hour).
This KPI is constantly monitored and analyzed, making it possible to:
- Establish a consumption baseline to evaluate performance.
- Identify anomalies and inefficiencies, which can indicate potential malfunctions.
- Accurately assess the impact of efficiency measures, such as the enhancement of energy recovery systems planned by the company.
- Optimize production planning, thereby reducing waste.
- Increase operator accountability, fostering a corporate culture of sustainability through internal training and communication.
Tangible Benefits and Future Prospects
The adoption of this system, combined with the other implemented technologies, has already yielded significant benefits for Autocarrozzeria Imperiale, reducing waste and improving both environmental and economic sustainability.
This project is a prime example of how Industry 4.0 and building automation can converge to create value. Tekni Post confirms its role as a strategic technology partner for companies that, like Autocarrozzeria Imperiale, look to the future by combining production excellence with sustainability, backed by concrete plans such as expanding their photovoltaic capacity and introducing technologies with an ever-lower environmental impact.
